Alexis own healing journey began as a very young overweight single mom desiring to lose weight, resolve her nasty headaches and digestive issues. She was broke, lonely and confused. She tried so many diets and supplements, but nothing seemed to work for her and her cravings were still out of control. She even had bulimia for a short while in an effort to try to control her weight and she drank wine at night to relieve her headaches. Her life was beginning to spin out control and she finally had to take a long hard look in the mirror and come to realize that she needed change! That was her rock bottom.
The very next day Alexis checked out several books from the library on nutrition. This was before the internet so the library was her only option! She started learning about nutrition and exercise and began implementing her new habits right away. She finally lost the weight and got her health back but it did take time and she did have setbacks. Surrounding herself with supportive relationships and other people with good habits proved to be important for her success. Alexis became so passionate about her new found health that she decided to make a career out of it. Juggling a toddler and working two jobs made getting a college education the typical way difficult but she was tenacious.
